Why I do what I do
I see the human body as expressive of the entire range of human emotion, experience, and existence; I also find the human form endlessly compelling in the abstract, in terms of line, shape, composition, and form. Perhaps that is why I have always been powerfully drawn to rendering the human figure and face. I continue to be amazed and fascinated both by the infinite variations in the human form, and by the limitless ways in which an artist can play with that form. I am especially drawn to the female body: its curves, swells and hollows suggest to me all the possibilities and mysteries of life on our planet.
